Feel free to plan ahead; slots are available for 2027 too. Opt for longer lead times to avoid any additional charges.
Licenses
Personal use
Included in the base price
With this type of license, use of the illustration is strictly personal.
You may: share it occasionally on social media, use it as a personal avatar, or use it for personal projects that are not distributed or sold.
You may not: use it for commercial or promotional purposes / sell or transfer the license.
Promotional use
+20% of the price
With this type of license, you can promote your book or product online, distribute FREE printed copies of the illustration, and use it for marketing activities that do not directly generate revenue.
You may not: directly sell the illustration or any product incorporating it, or transfer or resell the license.
Commercial license Non-Exclusive
+50% of the price
This license includes promotional use. It allows you to use the illustration for commercial purposes (such as prints, merchandise, covers, etc.). The number of copies is agreed upon in advance and recalculated in the event of a reprint. As the artist, I retain the right to continue selling or profiting from the illustration under this license.
You may not transfer or resell the license, and exclusive rights remain with the artist, who holds the copyright.
Commercial license Exclusive
+80% of the price
This license includes everything covered by the previous one (plus promotional use); however, you may use the illustration for exclusive commercial purposes without limits or prior discussion regarding the number of copies. The artist cannot license or sell it without your authorization. You may not transfer or resell the license without permission. The artist retains the copyright.

For single or double-page spreads, the exact price is calculated based on requirements.
The base price includes one character and a simple or detailed background; typography is also an option.
Licensing is included and may be reassessed on a case-by-case basis depending on usage terms.

First, please read the terms of service carefully, then fill out the commission form at the bottom of the page.
We will discuss your request, and I will confirm whether or not I accept your commission.
You will receive a confirmation email and an initial quote for approval. You can accept or decline it, and we can adjust it according to your budget.
Once the quote is signed, you will receive the final invoice.
As previously agreed, I will begin the work once the invoice (or the deposit) has been paid.
I will send you an initial sketch proposal for approval. This is the time to make any changes you’d like!
You will receive a work-in-progress update during the coloring stage, at which point minor adjustments can be made.
Once the illustration is finished, I will send it to your email address, including an HD version for personal use and a web version for your social media.

Terms of Service
Please read my terms and conditions carefully.
- I reserve the right to decline any commission for any reason.
- I will discuss your project with you before confirming any commission. A commission is not considered accepted until I have sent you a confirmation email.
- Prices may vary depending on the request.
Please note that commissions are for personal use by default. If you require an illustration for promotional or commercial use, please refer to the licensing details above. - Every illustration includes a signature that must not be removed (except for projects under commercial license).
- The client is responsible for carefully reviewing the work; I accept no liability for errors once the work has been approved.
- Please remember to credit me (@deterrahayden / Hayden Deterra) when sharing the illustration.
- NO AI: Do not feed my work into AI systems. Any violation will result in the immediate termination of the license without a refund.
- Please be responsive regarding feedback and approvals. If more than 10 days elapse without a response, the project may be paused, and a follow-up fee may be applied.
- All personal and payment information remains confidential.
- In accordance with French law, I retain copyright ownership regardless of the type of license selected. This allows me to use the illustration on my website, portfolio, and social media (unless a specific scheduled reveal or other arrangement has been agreed upon)
- Please refer to the specific terms of each license listed and detailed in the “licenses” box above.
- Regardless of the license chosen, the artist retains copyright ownership of the work, in accordance with the laws of their country.
- PayPal only, in euros (5% fee).
- Commissions can be paid 100% upfront, or split 50% at the start and 50% after the sketch is approved.
- I will not deliver a completed commission unless it has been paid for in full.
- Refunds are only possible if I have not yet started drawing.
- Do not send payment before receiving my commission confirmation and the PayPal invoice.
The commission process consists of three distinct stages: sketching, coloring, and finalization.
Sketching:
- You will receive one or more composition proposals. At this stage, I can make modifications free of charge (except for a complete change of subject or concept, for which fees may apply).
- The sketch must be approved before I proceed with the commission.
Coloring:
- Once the sketch is approved, I will send you a basic color draft to give you an idea of the lighting and the illustration’s direction. You may request up to five revisions at this stage (e.g., color changes, adding details).
- Major changes (such as changing the character entirely) may incur additional fees.
- The coloring must be approved before moving to the next stage.
Finalization:
- Minor final adjustments may be accepted (e.g., adding a stray hair or a shadow).
- Major modifications—such as changing the character or the background—will be billed separately as a new commission.
- Once you have approved the final illustration, no further changes will be accepted.
- Once work has begun, no refunds are possible. Exception: if I personally decide to cancel the commission before delivery, you will receive a full refund.
- I reserve the right to cancel a commission due to any inappropriate or disrespectful behavior. In such cases, no refund will be issued.
- If the commission is cancelled before work begins, no payment is required.
- If you cancel upon delivery of the sketch, you agree to pay 50% of the total price to cover the time and effort invested in the work already completed. You may not use the sketches, which remain the property of the artist.
- No cancellations are possible after the coloring stage or the delivery of the final illustration.
